Jonathan Schultheis is a Professor in the Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University. He has worked exclusively with North Carolina State University for over 35 years. He research and extension work primarily involves cucurbit crops and sweetpotatoes. Key areas in his applied research and extension program are cultivar evaluations, fertilizer/nutrition, stand establishment, post harvest, and planting density. More recently, his program has involved sensory evaluations, use of drones to improve production efficiencies, rotation and cover crops to manage root knot nematodes, and the use of genetics and fungicides to manage fusarium wilt in watermelon.
